This programme is specifically tailored to graduates who are blind, deafblind or have low vision. During the programme, you'll gain invaluable workplace experience through a full-time 12-month paid placement with BLVNZ, with the potential to be placed with an external employer during the final 3 months of the year-long programme.
You will develop professional skills, practical skills related to your qualification, and build confidence in the workplace. A senior mentor will be assigned to you to support you throughout the programme and discuss your future career prospects.
Our goal is to help kick-start your professional career and assist you in gaining employment beyond the programme, by networking and leveraging your learnings.
1. Provide general administrative support.
· Provide administrative support to relevant departments within BLVNZ including data entry, filing, answering phone calls, responding to emails, scheduling appointments, and managing office supplies.
· Assist with the organisation and coordination of relevant events and meetings.
· Conduct research and compile data for reports and presentations.
· Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
· Provide general assistance to the team.
2. Undertake projects/tasks related to your specific business unit.
Projects/tasks to be completed as determined with your manager and based on the needs of the business unit.
· Attend meetings to ensure project/tasks progress to plan.
· Provide support in the delivery of business unit-wide projects.
· Develop strong working relationships and networks with key stakeholders.
· Update your manager and team on your work progress.
3. Other duties as required by the manager/ business unit.
· A variety of duties that will allow for expanded experience in a workplace.
4. Learning and Development
· Attend and complete all training assigned.
· Meet regularly with mentor
· Meet regularly with People and Performance and other interns in the program to share learnings.
5. Corporate Responsibility
· Undertakes performance development tasks/responsibilities in culture amp.
· Demonstrates a proactive commitment to a safe working environment to meet BLVNZ requirements
· Participates in and undertakes emergency management duties as required.
· Undertake specific projects and activities as necessary or as required to support BLVNZ.
· Maintains property and equipment.
· Fulfils administration - reporting requirements
· Ensure that the Health and Safety Policy is upheld and requirements are met
· Be a Health and Safety Champion

· Tertiary qualification, (NZQA Level 5 minimum) within the last 18 months
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
· Ability to take ownership of tasks and projects and work independently.
· Ability to represent the company in a professional and positive manner, both in person and in writing
· Demonstrated experience in a varied and busy work environment, requiring taking initiative.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Ability to apply knowledge gained through studies to department-specific requirements.
· Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
· A positive and proactive approach to work, with a willingness to take on new challenges and work through obstacles to achieve goals.
